Abstract

Polypyrrole and polypyrrole/tungsten disulfide composites (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50wt%) were synthesized by chemical polymerization method using ammonium persulfate as an oxidizing agent. The composites were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) so as to study the structural and morphological changes in the composite. FESEM images of the composite reveals the granular morphology and FTIR spectrum shows the formation of the composite. AC frequency dependent dielectric studies were obtained by using Hioki model 3532-50, programmable computer interfaced digital LCR meter with a frequency range of 50 to 5 M Hz. Variation of dielectric constant of the polypyrrole composites with the applied frequency is attributed to Maxwell-Wagner polarization model. © 2020 Author(s).
