VLSI global routing algorithms: A survey

Abstract

Todays ASIC designs are large, complex and provide challenges to the routing tools. These challenges are requirement for speed, efficient routing and optimization of wire length. We study the current algorithms in global routing to understand how they are able to meet those challenges. In this paper we present a survey of existing high performance routing algorithms. We studied the algorithms of cutting edge global routers and provide a summary of these algorithms and their contributions. © 2016 IEEE.
