An Intelligent IoT-Enabled Women and Child Protection Device with GPS Tracking and SOS Alert Mechanism

Abstract

Ensuring the safety of women and children has become a critical societal concern due to the increasing number of security threats and emergency situations. It was imperative that women and children be protected from the increasing threats and dangers during the previous times. Thus, this report proposes an embedded system for women and child protection through tracking and an SMS warning system to provide effective protection and assistance during emergency situations. The embedded system makes use of the microcontroller together with the GPS and GSM modules, which provide precise position tracking and effective communication features. If there is a distress signal, the system will send an SMS warning to the predetermined emergency contacts depending on its location. The embedded system is very convenient to use since it is portable and compact in size. Besides, it is also designed to consume less power.
