Design and Analysis of a D-Band LC Bandpass Filter and Low-Noise Amplifier for 6G Front-End Applications

| Abstract |
The next era of wireless technology is expected to use the D-band frequency range (110 - 170 GHz) to deliver fast data rates, low latency, and smarter use of the available spectrum. However, designing receiver front-end circuits in this frequency range presents major challenges due to high device parasitics, limited passive quality factors, and the difficulty of achieving impedance matching. This paper presents the design and analysis of 148 GHz LC Bandpass filter (BPF) integrated with a Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) in CMOS technology using Cadence Virtuoso. The LC filter achieves a center frequency of 148GHz with a 19 GHz bandwidth, providing frequency selectivity for D-band channels. To compensate for insertion loss and improve sensitivity, a common-source inductive-degeneration LNA is used. The combined front-end demonstrates the potential of CMOS-compatible BPF-LNA architectures for compact, energy-efficient D-band receivers. |
