Abstract

Authentication serves as one of the basic requirements in the area of network security which helps in identifying whether the data received is from the intended user or has it been manipulated on its way from source and thereby avoiding the data or information being exposed by external threats. Without proper authentication, abnormal behaviors would be observed in the operation. To overcome the threat of data security, there is a need for a secured scheme of authentication. In this paper, appraisal of various authentication protocols used in a multi-server and distributed environment is performed and a secured authentication scheme (SAS) algorithm is developed which assures receiver that the packet received is authentic and secured. © 2022 IEEE.
